Where it comes from: The same processing plants as chicken meal, using the fractions humans in the US mostly do not eat.
Why it's in the product: Cheap, dense protein. Organ meat is genuinely nutrient-rich, which is why this ingredient is more defensible than its reputation suggests.
Safety and toxicity: No documented toxicity. Our reservation is consistency, not danger: the ratio of organ to bone to connective tissue can vary batch to batch, and the label gives you no way to see it.
Interactions and who should be careful: Batch variability matters most for pets on a strict elimination diet, where an unpredictable mix defeats the point of the trial.
